Parlor Edge identifies each cow in her stall and displays real-time data that helps drive fast, informed action. While cows are being milked, the system highlights animals that need attention and provides deck workers with the tools to act immediately.

You'll see:

  • String assignments, with smart auto-correction based on pen location

  1. With auto string changes enabled, Parlor Edge can automatically update a cow’s group assignment in DHI-Plus if she’s found in a different string—no manual recordkeeping required.
  2. Deck workers can prepare and administer injections right on the deck, combining milking and treatment into one workflow. There's no need to lock up cows during feeding or scan them stall by stall—one worker on the parlor deck can manage it all.
  3. As cows exit the rotary, Parlor Edge communicates directly with auto-sort gates to route each animal where she needs to go.

Real-Time Dashboard Display

Parlor Edge provides a live, rotating view of cows as they move through the parlor, giving deck workers and managers instant access to key data when needed.

The deck is a designated exit area at the end of the rotary where cows are accessible from behind—giving deck workers a safe, efficient zone to administer treatments without stopping the flow of milking.

The display updates in real time and shows the next 20 cows approaching the deck, with smart visual cues to simplify in-parlor decisions.

Flags cows that will be sorted after milking, rather than returning to their home pen. The reason for sorting—such as Breeding, Vet Check, or Re-grouping—is clearly shown so deck workers know where each cow is headed next

Real-time Cow Identification & Data Integration

Parlor Edge connects directly with the rotary parlor system to identify each cow in real time and keep herd records accurate and up to date. Through a software integration with the rotary controller, Parlor Edge receives the RFID collar ID from each stall.

The system runs hourly automated reports from DHI-Plus to ensure that the dashboard always reflects the latest instructions—whether a cow shows up for milking once, twice, or three times a day. These reports determine which cows should be sorted, treated, or flagged for follow-up.

  • Milking Frequency Compliance. Tracks how many cows successfully achieved their target milking schedule. Example: “3x Milking Cows: 5337 / 6111 — 87%” This helps identify if cows are missing rotations and where operational adjustments may be needed.
  • Sorting Execution. Compares how many cows were scheduled to be sorted for any reason with how many actually were. Example: “Sort Cows to Breed: 91 / 92 — 99%” A high compliance rate here ensures that needed protocols are being executed efficiently.
  • Treatment Completion Rate. Measures the percentage of cows that received scheduled shots or treatments during milking. Example: “Cows for Shots: 225 / 246 — 91%” Ensures that critical health tasks aren't being missed or delayed, maintaining animal welfare and herd productivity.

Detailed reports can be run on any of these metrics to investigate gaps—for example, why some cows didn't receive a third milking or missed a scheduled treatment.

As cows rotate through the parlor, Parlor Edge displays the next 20 animals approaching the deck, highlighting any that are due for a shot. The display shows the type of shot needed—such as OVS or LUT—and color-codes it using the same marking system already in use at the dairy. 

This gives deck workers the time and confidence to prepare in advance and deliver the correct shot. Instead of sending workers into pens during feeding time to scan tags and administer shots—a process that’s stressful for cows and labor-intensive—Parlor Edge enables treatments to be delivered mid-milking, by a single worker on the deck.

How it works:

As each cow rotates through the parlor, her collar ID is scanned and matched to her DHI-Plus record. If she’s been flagged for sorting—whether for breeding, a vet check, or reassignment to a different group—Parlor Edge sends that instruction in real time to the sorting gates. When she reaches the exit, the system recognizes her and automatically diverts her to the appropriate lane.

This live data handoff between Parlor Edge and the sort gate company’s system eliminates manual sorting tasks, ensuring cows get to the right place at the right time—without any worker intervention at the exit point.

As cows are loaded onto the rotary parlor, the system compares the pen (or string) listed in their record to the pen most of the cows around them are coming from.

If there’s a mismatch, Parlor Edge flags it immediately—helping the dairy maintain accurate grouping without chasing down errors later.

As each cow’s collar is scanned at the rotary entrance, Parlor Edge checks her assigned pen against the string most cows around her are in. If there’s a mismatch, the system highlights the Temporary String (TSTR) in green, indicating that it’s ready to auto-update her record. This pen correction logic can run automatically—or workers can manually confirm or override it with a single click, giving dairies both control and flexibility.

By identifying pen mismatches early and syncing that data across systems like EZfeed, Parlor Edge makes it easier for dairies to manage their cows, their feed, and their time—all without extra work.
