At DHI, our team is made up of people who are passionate about agriculture and dedicated to supporting dairy producers every day. This month, we're shining the spotlight on Makell Heaton, an Account Manager who brings a lifelong connection to agriculture and a love for working with producers across the industry.

Having recently celebrated just over a year with DHI, Makell serves as an Account Manager, helping support dairy operations and building relationships with producers. One of her favorite parts of the job is the opportunity to connect with dairies every day and get to know the people behind the operations. "It's fun to talk to dairies every day and kind of get to know them all," she shares.

Makell's agricultural roots run deep. Growing up around a small beef operation helped spark her interest in the livestock industry, and her involvement in 4-H and FFA further strengthened her passion for agriculture. That foundation ultimately led her to a career working with producers and livestock, making DHI a natural fit.

Before joining DHI, Makell worked at a large animal veterinary clinic, where she gained valuable experience supporting livestock operations from a different perspective. While she primarily worked as a receptionist, she also spent time assisting in the barn and helping wherever needed. The role gave her firsthand exposure to animal health and producer needs, providing insight that she now brings to her work with dairy customers.

Outside of the office, Makell enjoys spending time outdoors and making memories with family and friends. Whether she's exploring nature through landscape photography, casting a line while fishing, or simply enjoying the outdoors, she appreciates opportunities to unplug and enjoy the natural world around her.

We're grateful to have Makell as part of the DHI team and appreciate the enthusiasm, agricultural knowledge, and customer-focused approach she brings every day. Be sure to say hello when you see her around!
